My Father's name is Charles W. Hahl, but his middle name is William and he was born in Brooklyn in 1910. His parents came from Germany. His father's name wasJohann Peter Christian Hahl and grandfather was Johann Christopher Hahl. Then we come to a dead end at my 2nd great grandfather, who was Johann Matthias Hahl. We are trying to trace back farther. The family lore is that Matthias Hahl was an "illegitimate" child and took his mother's last name. I am interested to see if there is any connection to the Texas Hahls. I'm sure there is, but how far back we'd have to go is unknown.

Hi, I'm Marlene and I, too, am a daughter of Chief Big Heart /Richard Vest. I was recently able to determine that he's my father by finding my birthmother, and using dna..... If anyone is unsure of their connection to him, my advice is to do a dna test and upload your data to gedmatch.com. If you are related to him we should also come up as related. :)
Best wishes and good luck to you, Rsusman1. I hope you find what you are looking for and that you too find the peace that comes with knowing who you are and where you come from. :)
