Mary Beatrice Campbell, 89, of Hixson, Tennessee passed away peacefully on Sunday, Feb. 14, 2010.
Beatrice member of Hixson First Baptist and later Falling Water Baptist. Beatrice was a lover of nature who enjoyed gardening, and watching birds and butterflies.
She was born in White County, Tenn. on Oct. 18, 1920, to the late James Franklin and Cora Mae Davis Sapp.
Beatrice received nurse's training at Erlanger Nursing School from 1940-1942.
She later contributed to the World War II effort by working in a military defense plant in Ohio.
After returning to Chattanooga, she worked as a nurse at the tuberculosis hospital, and then in the 1980's, she was a nurse at the Baylor School Infirmary.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and sisters, Juanita Cookson and Geneva Meeks.
Beatrice is survived by her husband of 67 years, L.R. "Rube" Campbell; two sons, James W.T. Campbell, of Chattanooga and Gary (Donna) Campbell, of Soddy-Daisy; daughter, Denise (Joe Alan) McGee, of Tulsa, Oklahoma; 11 Grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; three brothers, Bob Sapp, Lloyd Sapp and Ronnie Sapp, all of Ohio; several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 4 to 8 p.m. today and noon to 2:30 p.m. Wednesday at the North Chapel.
Services for Beatrice will be held at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday at the North Chapel with the Rev. Tommy Taylor and her son-in-law, the Rev. Joe Alan McGee officiating.
Burial will follow in Hamilton Memorial Gardens.
