I'm looking for information on William Harvie Bray. I have the following info, but I'm looking for any family connections.
Bray, William Harvie (1861) -William Harvie Bray, Class of 1861. Born- 1839. Matriculated from Lanesville. At VMI 3 years (entered as third). Military Record: Drillmaster, Richmond, Spring 1861. Enlisted at Suffolk, VA on 21 April 1861 for three years as Pvt, Company D, 53rd Virginia (may have enlisted earlier for 1 year). Made 3rd Lt, Company E on 29 July 1862; 2nd Lt on 29 September 1862. 1st Lt on 30 April 1863 roll. On 23 June 1863 Colonel of Regiment recommended him for Capt, Company B. Approved throuh brigade on 24 June, division on 1 July, corps on 8 July, and army. Made Capt 27 July 1863. Meanwhile, he was mortally wounded in action in Pickett's Charge at Gettysburg, he was shot through his hips after crossing a stone wall. At time of promotion to Capt, Confederate States records carried him as "wounded and captured." Died- 3 July 1863.
