Jeffrey Kenneth Ramsdell, 73, of his beloved Sausalito, CA, passed away unexpectedly on May 31, 2016 due to stroke.
Jeff was born in Binghamton, NY on August 6, 1942.
He graduated from Sidney High School in Sidney, NY in 1960. Jeff continued on to receive his BA in History in 1964 from Birmingham-Southern College in Birmingham, Alabama during which time, Jeff experienced, first hand, the Birmingham Campaign of 1963. After graduation, Jeff entered The United States Marine Corps, as 2nd Lt., where he served his country, with honor, the next 6.5 years. In 1970, Jeff, with the rank of Captain, received his honorable discharge. During his service, Jeff served as a combat pilot in Vietnam flying F-4 Phantom's and received the following decorations: National Defense Service Medal; Vietnam Service Medal; Air Medal (10th Award); Vietnam Campaign Medal w/device; Certificate of Achievement; Distinguished Flying Cross; Combat Action Ribbon; Vietnam Cross of Gallantry w/Palm & Gold Frame; Navy Marine Corps Medal. After Jeff's honorable discharge from The United States Marine Corps, Jeff spent time studying Law at The University of Edinburgh. After returning from Edinburgh, in 1973, Jeff went on to obtain his MBA in International Management from Thunderbird School of Global Management. Jeff worked in investment banking for many years but was always an entrepreneur at heart. Jeff's passions were many - his family, furry and feathered friends of all kind, history, fly fishing, and the great outdoors. Corkin's Ponderosa in Chama, NM will always hold a special place in our hearts.
Jeff is survived by his life companion of 30+ years, his beloved Kathleen, bestest friends, Tigger and Razz and other dear friends.
Per Jeff's wishes, there will be no service. A Celebration of Life will be scheduled over the next few months. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Trout Unlimited, The Audubon Society, The Sierra Club or The Marin Humane Society.
