Lynn M. Van Such

LAS VEGAS - Lynn M. Van Such, 66, formerly of Canfield, Ohio, passed away on Friday, Sept. 16, 2016, in Las Vegas, surrounded by his family.

Lynn was born Dec. 17, 1949, in Youngstown, Ohio (Mahoning County) to Atty. Paul R. and Mary Jane Van Such.

He graduated from Boardman High School in 1967, receiving his B.A. and Master’s of Education in Counseling from Youngstown State University in 1993, serving as a past president of YSU’s counseling honor society, Chi Sigma Iota, from 1993 to 1994.
He further received his LPCC, LSW, Marriage and Family Therapy, and Alcohol, Drug, and Gambling Counseling licenses.
Lynn took great pride in his work, serving various counseling and social work agencies in Parma, Ohio, Mahoning County, Ohio and the Las Vegas area for over 20 years. He served as director of Emergency of Emergency Services at Turning Point Counseling Center in Youngstown.
Past accolades include Dee M. Elias Award for outstanding community service provided to Help Hotline Crisis Center .
He was also an avid supporter of local theater in Youngstown, Ohio attending Easy Street Productions, Oakland Theater of the Arts, Liz Rubino Studios, and Youngstown Playhouse productions over the years, never missing any of his daughter’s performances.
His quick wit and dry sense of humor brought joy to all who crossed his path.

He will be remembered by his wife of 33 years, JoAnn; one daughter, Kelsey Lynn. He leaves his siblings, David Van Such of Las Vegas and Diane Repuzynsky of Worthington, OH.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and brother Paul Herbert.

Per Lynn’s request, arrangements are being handled by Simple Cremations in Las Vegas.

In accordance with his lifetime of giving, Lynn gave the gift of life as a bone and tissue donor through Life Science Anatomical.

The family would like to request that expressions of sympathy in his honor be made toward Angels for Animals (www.angelsforanimals.org), as he was an avid lover of animals or Youngstown State University or The Youngstown Playhouse.
