CANFIELD – Mary Lou Green, 89, who passed away on Thursday evening, Nov. 24, 2016, with her family and close friends by her side.
Mary Lou was born May 25, 1927, in Youngstown, Ohio (Mahoning County) the daughter of the late George and Josephine (Kerkoff) Blissenbach.
She graduated from Struthers High School, Struthers, Ohio in 1944 and was a lifelong area resident.
Mary Lou was a secretary for the CEO of the Automatic Sprinkler Company for 20 years.
Later on, she was the secretary to the president of Youngstown Sheet and Tube for 15 years.
Mary Lou owned Key Executive Services for more than 20 years, retiring in 1992. She was a member of St. Michael’s Church and an active member of the Angels of Easter Seals Society, where she was President.
She was an active member of Boardman Rotary, where she was the first woman president of the Boardman Club, from 1997 to 1998, served on the board and committees. She was a recipient of the Paul Harris Fellow Award.
Mary Lou also served on the board for The Youngstown Connection.
She was a member of the Wildwood Garden Club and the Youngstown Sheet & Tube Club.
She was a recipient of the Athena Award in 2000.
Mary Lou is survived by a sister, Eleanor of Youngstown; a niece, Sue (Neil) Green-Schaming of Pittsburgh; many friends.
Besides her parents, Mary Lou was preceded in death by her husband of 45 years, Richard N. Green, whom she married Nov. 25, 1959, and who died June 3, 2004. Family and friends may call on Monday, Nov. 28, 2016, from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Thompson Filicky Funeral Home, 4221 Market St. in Boardman, and from 10 to 10:45 a.m. on Tuesday at St. Michael’s Church in Canfield, followed by a service at 11 a.m.
There will be a Mass of Christian Burial on Tuesday, Nov. 29, 2016, at 11 a.m. at St. Michael’s Church, 300 North Broad St. in Canfield, OH
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that material tributes take the form of contributions to Angels of Easter Seals, 299 Edwards St., Youngstown, OH 44502; The Salvation Army, 1501 Glenwood Ave., Youngstown, OH 44511 in memory of Mary Lou.
